is your firewall on. I had same problem turned firewall off and it worked

can i do this without a ethenat cable?

Before you signed in, did you see the ads? etc...

No! It just says please sign in with your email and pass then I get an error

Restart your Xbox, once it has loaded press b to skip sign in... Then clear system cache

I would say so, also if your doing a recovery make sure you always clear system cache each time you start or you'll keep getting disconnected from LIVE

Thanks for the heads up on recoveries but I restrict myself from doing them. Mostly because if they get banned they blame me.
