You don't need 12 gigs for gaming. Down grade to 8 gb and beef up the processor to either a 8320 or 8350.

Im keeping my ssd at 120 gb as im only using it as for software. I want to be future proof with the ram though as cod ghost already recommends 8 gb memory.

For gaming 8GB of RAM is more than sufficient for gaming, trust me.

Should i cut the ram down to 8gb and beefen up the cpu to an 8 core since games like dayz rely heavily on the cpu?

i would cut the RAM to 8gbs but get a higher speed of it, i have an AMD 6200 (witch is the same thing just at 3.8 Ghz instead of 3.5) and its good enough. Also games life BF4 are starting use high ram speeds.

What is your opinion on a 8gb 2400mhz ram?

No.The motherboard doesn't even support it.Just go with a 8GB (2x4Gb or 1x8GB) 1600mhz and you'll be fine.
