I really want to try this but I do twang to get banned as well.

You won't get banned unless you REALLY REALLY REALLY over use it. If you use it to get a fair amount of cash and a good rank then your account won't be confiscated by rockstar but if you do get caught you'll only be put into a cheaters pool (kind of the same thing as bad sports).

Do you think the ban rate is the same if you use the DNS code to get the collectors edition weapons?

Mostly likely not. The system that rockstar has is only set when people gain A LOT of rp or money or skill levels. Once it detects a user using the mods with the ethernet cable then you'll most likely get caught. Using the DNS code to get the collectors edition weapons might not get you banned. But don't quote me on that.
