Stick with Non AMD GPUs, not because they're bad, or cheaper or whatever.
You have an Intel CPU, a Nvidia GPU will run smoother than a R270x. (InB4 I get hate because I'm a "fanboy" I have no preference on GPUs. Only CPUs. Also, keep you AMD fanboying to a minimum.)
I suggest if you're saving up to get the 670 or 680. Both are great cards.
Are u suggesting that AMD Are bad well sir u are far from right considering AMD'S 290X Card was so good that nvidia had to bring down the price of the 780ti because the 290x was more powefull.

Research before you say something mate
research what exactly? I didnt read your post correctly OP are you buying a 650 for him?
You said save money by buying the 270x even though its nearly 100 more than the 650.
Wrong. He said to save up some more money and buy an R9 270X, seems you misinterpreted what he had said.
Thank you my good sir, thats exactly what i said
Sorry mate completely misread that my apologies.

Did you not even read?
He has an Intel CPU, if you know anything you would know it would be smoother with a Nvidia GPU.
Please calm you AMD Fanboyism. It's disgusting.
Also, they brought down the 770, and the 780 price. Not the Ti.

Time for me to get in here.
Intel and nVidea aren't designed for them to work better together. Let's say I had a i5 4670k, and I was getting a new GPU. My choice was either a 270x or a 660 (due to budget). What would be better? The 270x because it is a better GPU. The performance of a GPU doesn't depend on the brand of the CPU. If the performance of two GPU's were the same, then I'd look to see which one was cheaper, or which one has the best cooling or just one that fitted my color scheme the best. I wouldn't say 'Oh, that one is nVidea, and I have an Intel CPU, must go with that', it just doesn't work like that.

no prob i thought i had misread something that the OP said, and the 780ti price thing isnt just about power its just the 780ti was so much more expensive so it would be more cost effective to just get a 290x.

That's a myth to claim that an Intel cpu will run smoother with a Nividia GPU. It's a huge deciding factor to know if a specific game is optimized for a card. For example, Last Light will run much more fluidly because it was optimized with an Nvidia GPU. The only reason of why Nvidia cards much more better on most games because Nvidia is invested into more areas than AMD is. But in terms of performance, Nvidia and AMD are roughly neck and neck in the competition.

The GTX 650 isn't too shabby of a card. You will have no trouble running most current games on medium-high settings.
