If you aren't going to overclock, and you won't be since you aren't getting the 'K' version of that CPU, then the first one will be the best.

However, I would still switch a few things around in that build.

What does K do?
And what would you switch?

The "k" versions of CPU's are unlocked, meaning you can overclock them. If you get a "K" model you need a Z87 motherboard, which allows you to overclock better.

So, you either get a K model and a Z87 motherboard, or a locked CPU (e.g i7 4770) and go with a B85 motherboard, which doesn't allow you to OC.

That is where my money would be.

Around the same price bracket. What is your exact budget and I'll tone it down/up...

And what would you switch?

The 'k' allows you to over-clock the CPU so you can get better performance with the chip.

I would change the:

  • GPU
  • Case
  • PSU

And if you're just gaming, then an i5 will fit the build very well.

My budget is 1000 but I might be able to buff it up to 1300

Then what I suggested will blow the top 2 out of this solar system. 780 is probably the best GPU on the market as of today (Consumer grade) and the 4670K overclocks like a beast.
