The social media platforms of Skype have been hacked by a group claiming to be the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA).
The group posted anti-surveillance messages, including a message telling people not to use email services of Microsoft, the owner of Skype.
It claimed "they are monitoring your accounts and selling the data to the governments".
The hack comes after recent revelations about surveillance programmes being run by US intelligence agencies.
"Don't use Microsoft emails (hotmail, outlook). They are monitoring your accounts and selling the data to the governments," the hackers posted on Skype's Twitter account and its blog.

The thing is, people will continue to use all the services they stated along with being oblivious that is their ISP that is also giving up their information.

Thank you for posting this. Couldn't really understand just who the heck did this, since everyone likes to take credit for it.

I think this is a bit overkill. I mean, even if its true, I really don't mind. I doubt the big bad "NSA" cares about the email my grandma forwarded to me. I feel like I'm the minority with this, I'm really not bothered by this. I don't care if someone I don't know has access to my email. Its creepy, but I don't use email for anything really.
Unrelated to the post; I find that font (Comic Sans) annoying, I'm sure a lot of people agree. Its just more difficult to read and I'm lazy. Also making everything bold diminishes the point of anything being bold. Just a friendly heads up.

This is pretty interesting. I for one don't mind if my emails are being monitored. I'm not doing anything wrong, so I don't really care.
I can see other's frustration with being monitored though.

I don't use Skype anyway but if our ISP's give out the info then that's quite concerning
