I owned one of the original Hauppauge's and also this one. This one is the best in the Hauppauge range and uses HDMI rather than the component cables the original does.

In all honesty though I would go with the El Gato which in my view is the best capture card out there. It's a little more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Either device will do the job, it's ultimately your decision.

Yep that is the highest quality external capture device you can get.

Although as already stated you should get an Elgato game capture HD. I used to own one whenever I did the Youtube and it's amazing! Small, compact and comes bundled with great software that has flashback recording (Up to an hour of footage before being deleted) so even if you didn't have your elgato on record and you just did something really cool in a game you can rewind back and save your clip!

If you really do prefer Hauppauge's products you should go with this: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

It can record Pc and console gameplay and is small and compact just like Elgato just the software isn't as good

(Since they are both smaller they lack in quality compared to the PVR 2 gaming edition by a tiny amount but it's hardly noticeable)
