I am having trouble getting my controller to connect to my pc. I do not want to spend any extra money to buy a wired controller or the wireless receiver. If there is any way to use the controller via Play & Charge cable please let me know.
Will rep for the best and most helpful answer. Thanks.

No, you have to have a wired one to connect it to PC.

I thought so. I really do not want to have to purchase a wired controller. If anyone else has any way to do so please let me know.

You can get the Play & Charge Kit cable and it's designed only to charge the controller, nothing more. To use a wireless Controller with a PC, you need the Wireless Gaming Receiver USB dongle usually $20 and is available at most electronic stores.

Ya that's what I'm going to do. Found one on Amazon for about nine dollars.

you can get a wireless receiver that's not actually Microsoft made from Amazon, make sure to save the page for when you get it as the comments tell you how to connect it because anything that comes with it wont actually help
