The Ministry of Culture of the Peoples Republic of China has reportedly banned Electronics Arts Battlefield 4 on the grounds that it contains content that endangers national security.
The news was triggered by the release of the games DLC, China Rising, which portrays the country knee deep in internal fighting that was triggered by Admiral Chang, who aims at overthrowing the countrys current government.
China Rising is Battlefield 4s first expansion. Set on the Chinese Mainland, it contains new maps, modes, vehicles, assignments and weapons and follows the fictional stroy of Admiral Chang, who wants to overthrow the government.
The reported ban on Battlefield 4 follows the recent launch of downloadable content, the China Rising Map Pack, which was released on Windows PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One recently.
The ban includes DLCs, demos, patches, mods and the game itself. Upon the DLCs release the Countrys Ministry of Culture decided to ban the sale of physical copies of the game.
Apart from this, EA is facing a host of other problems owing to the game. Gamers have been complaining that Battlefield 4 is filled with glitches even months after its launch.
The compalints have cost EA severly in terms of reputation and have also caused several parties to file legal action suits against it.
Battlefield 4 is the sequel to Battlefield 3 and was released on October 29, 2013 in North America. Battlefield 4s single-player Campaign takes place in 2020, six years after the events of its predecessor.
