I don't like being Desmond and looking back on his ancestors.
I'd rather play Black Flag without using the machine, being an Assassin during the pirate days

I like it, I love the plot around the assassins. Desmond can be annoying, but I'm actually in the middle of reading the novels of AC by Oliver Bowden. It really is interesting if you play every game and unveil the secrets in them.

I actually hate how they ended the Desmond story. Loved his backstory and him trying to embrace his Assassin heritage. I feel the Animus adds so much to the story. I hope they continue to add new current day characters when needed to add to that part of the story.

Yeah kinda sucked how he died. It's the same with the modern day missions in AC4, it's cool how you meet Rebecca and Shaun, but there isn't much backstory to the person you play as in AC IV modern day. I know the assassins kidnapped Olivier because of the message you have to deliver to them. The thing that made the modern day Abstergo really cool, was the Animus and computers you could hack, it has some really interesting stuff. I love diving in to the background of each character, Assassins Creed is one of the most interesting games ever in my opinion, and is 100% movie compatible. I heard they were actually in development for an Assassins Creed movie, I just hope it isn't one of those letdown movies based on games.
