Is the caviar green really that significantly slower than the caviar black?
And what's the noise like on both of them because I'm getting mixed reviews on websites?
It's a caviar black 1tb and a caviar green 2tb

Caviar Greens are noticeably slower than the top of the line Caviar Blacks. If you have the money, I'd strongly suggest going with the Caviar Black if you care about fast storage. I've used a Caviar Green before and I didn't have any noise issues with it, I'm not sure about the Caviar Blacks though. I'm sure they won't be loud.

Greens are best for storage, not boot drives. Intellipower = low RPM but good for silence, power, heat, vibration, and reliability. If you want a boot drive, go with a Blue, Black, or comparable drive from another manufacturer. WD Blacks are good for their warranty, but Blues are just as fast, for all intents of purposes. That said, warranty is extremely important for something that fails as often as a mechanical drive.
