Your government is doing the same thing only it hasn't been leaked yet.
Don't fool yourself.

Every first world country has mass surveillance going on right now.

Things like this happen in America.

For the people asking why they are doing this:
Your finger prints don't change from the moment of birth to the moment of death.
Only the size.

They will have your finger prints on record without you even being in the prison system.

Yes, the NSA is spying on us and tapping into our phone calls. I think it is absurd that they are doing this and it should stop immediately

All of the people saying your fingerprint is used to pay for your lunches, it's not actually your fingerprint

It takes a biometric measurement of your finger, as opposed to an exact image of your fingerprint, so it is technically possible to have the wrong account come up, just incredibly unlikely

Also, my school never did the fingerprinting, I wonder if it's because I go to a private school?

I honestly wouldn't have a problem with it, but that's just me.

The only part of this that really raises the eyebrows is the "Without Parental consent" part. I think that is a bit sketchy - schools shouldn't really be doing things without consent from the students caregivers. But then again, if 'parental consent' was needed, no parent would probably give it.

But back to why I think it's okay. It's simple, if it's going to help reduce crime, then why not. If 800,000 kids are fingerprinted, that's going to make 800,000 kids think twice before committing theft.

It doesn't hurt, and it infact has it's benefits.

I had my fingerprints scanned by my school awhile ago for the "Cashless" payment system (Waste of time, I hate it) like many others who posted. Thinking of it, They didn't send out a parental consent form, and only notified parents after it was done.

Not quite sure as to why a school would want to do this
