As you all know, Black Ops 2 Zombies ranking system has been a mystery for the past 1 year after the game came out.
And finally, after exactly 1 year after the game came out, the head developer of Call of Duty Zombies, Jimmy Zielinski tweeted out the confirmed information for the Ranking system.

If you insert missing letters, it reads:
The Rank is alive, it rises and falls based on how well you play overall.
It is based on how many downs verses your final round.
Low round downs counts against you more then downs in later rounds.

So what does that mean? - Very simple.

First, you need to make it consistently to high rounds without taking downs in a low round.
Second, a down on a low round is more valuable than a down in a high round.


In other words, it's not about kills, not about headshots, not about revives, hits, anything.
Think about it. that explains why nukes are in the game, because let's say it actually was KD, why have the nuke?
Then treyarch would set it so the kills will count by nuke drops. huh?
And explains solo is good for ranking up, you don't have to play with randoms to get revives. think about it. if you needed certain number of revives, the good players wouldn't get shotguns.
Why? because they don't go down! their team mates wouldn't either.

In easy words, the big mistake everyone thinks is: Required kills divided by downs equals the rank. Which is not true. how it actually works is : Required average rounds divided by downs equals the rank.

He was keep tweeting about the community having to look for another solution, but no spots lights were shown.

Although, like anyone predicted, downs were the main cause.



Custom games do count towards rank. Anything that is done online reflects on your rank.


ELITE app tracks your games that show up in your player channel while showing what round u reached.
( the app shows one less round reached)

(average round)= AR
Anything under 25 AR = Skull rank
Between 25-40 AR = Knife rank
Above 40 AR = Dual shotgun rank

Time: When you don't play Zombies mode for a 24 period you will start losing your ranking. The rate at which you lose your ranking is 1 tally mark per 24 hour period. It isn't possible to lose your main ranking, only tally marks.

For example: Say your current rank is the Skull and 4 tally marks. If you go don't play the Zombies mode for 24 hours, you will drop down to Skull and 3 tally marks. If you don't play for another 4 days, you will only drop down to the Skull with0 tally marks. You won't drop down to the Crossing Bones.

The ranking system is updated at 12 AM GMT (7 PM EST). This is the exact time you will lose a tally mark if you haven't played for 24 hours.

However, you do NOT NEED the blue eyes to rank up.
I ranked up on a 4 tally.

Q : How do I get my average rounds?
A : you can't get your exact average round, but you can go to your Elite!

Q : So what's the fastest, and the best way to get shotguns?
A : Play your easiest map, most likely Buried, or Die Rise, and do your best. simple as that.

Q : Will custom game work?
A : I'm not sure, but it should. although nothing proves it doesn't work, so, you know.

Q : When exactly this was confirmed?
A : to be exact, about a month before the launch of COD:Ghosts.

Q : Can I reset my stats?
A : There use to be a reset glitch, I used it when I was stuck on knife, which was around the die rise days.
Although it's patched, there is one way. if you delete your player stats in your xbox storage, you can reset it. but your campaign and your multiplayer will reset as well.

Q : Can you get deranked?
A : Yes you can be deranked if you play poorly or don't play frequently enough.

Q : Why don't I have blue eyes?
A : Blue eyes are part of the tally system for Skull, Dagger and Shotgun ranks. The skull on those ranks will have blue eyes if you have played a set amount of time for the previous 5 days.

Q : I've played for a week, but I'm stuck on 4 tallys
A : If you had blue eye already, and don't play for a day, it will take 3 days to earn back one tally.
So what should you do? play everyday! lol

Q : Why am I losing tallies?
A : If you don't play you will lose tallies. You need to complete Round 1 everyday to earn a tally.

Q : Do I get de-ranked for not playing?
A : You do not get de-ranked for not playing.

Q : Can you help me get shotguns?
A : Not atm, I get so many messages it's difficult to help everyone.

Q : Can I play with you?
A : I like to play solo, but I will join sometimes. also, never invite me to games when I'm already in one.

Q : Why don't you join my party?
A : When I play solo, I try and concentrate, so I don't want to talk. I only talk when I'm playing with friends.

Q : How many toilet paper squares do you use in one round?
A : about a roll.
