So recently my phat white console rrod, couldn't be fixed. So went and bought a 4gb slim retail! Both consoles are unmodified, so I plugged my old 60 gb HDD to the back of the xbox using a transfer cable, it has 3 profiles and game saves and dlc that's not recoverable. It's not coming up with anything on the memory settings. Telling me to format it . Surely Microsoft didn't mess up that bad any help is appreciated!

open up the 360 hardrive (all the casing) til you get the actual hardrive then plug it in the side of the slim, xbox cant read higher than 32gb USB

you must format the hdd for the console to use it you can always redownload the dlcs but for the other things you could maybe not 100% sure if it will work someone might know but use a tranfer cable to back up the stuff you want onto your pc

Thanks mate, did see on Xbox support forms that this could result in a console ban due to hardware modification but what do they expect people to spend more money I don't think so!

Listen, I've been doing this since the Slim has come out. There is no chance of you getting banned because quite simply, they can't tell what console the hard drive is for. I have a 20GB HDD in mine right now and I'm loving it.
