Does anyone know what rep points actually do ? Are they just there for show?

Kind of just for show I guess... But it tends to be the higher rep you have, the more "known" you are around the website, since it would be due to a higher post count/receiving more rep from users

some people (for some reason) tend to link rep/posts to being "legit" but this is kind of useless IMO

Its there for show sort of but you can also give reputation to people, Zero_Point_Five explained it perfectly
