Earlier this month I had the idea of a different ending to Reach, but only now have mustered the strength to fight through the laziness of my forebeing

Stop and go away if you haven't completed Reach's campaign.

WALL OF TEXT INBOUND

I think, that instead of an epic fight scene where eventually Noble 6 dies, Bungie should have made an ending similiar to the ending to "Ghosts of Onyx" (The part where Kurt has a vision of his dead team mates standing by him til the end.)

Picture this in a cutscene;

Noble 6 is firing his AR, gets shot by multiple Plasma Reapeater shots that make his sheilds pop. His left leg buckles from another shot. He then limps to behind a big rock where he sits and takes cover. The camera pans up a bit to reveal an Elite Zealot climbing over the rock with his wrist blade ignited and stabs Noble 6 in the shoulder. Noble 6 stabs the Elite in the neck and it falls over but it's wrist armor falls off, leaving the blade in. Noble 6 grunts in pain, and the camera takes to his first person view. He glances at the blade and then up at the sky at which time a dropship flies overhead.

"Noble 6," Carter's voice is heard saying. 6 looks to his right and sees Carter, body and all.
"Spartans don't sit around." He says with a smirk.
"I thought you were a Spartan." Jorge says, as you look left. Jorge and Emile are standing next to each other.
"You were supposed to leave all that "lone wolf" stuff behind, remember?" Kat says while you look infront of you to see Jun and her. They beckon you to rise. When you do, Carter put his hand on your shoulder and says "Spartans never die.".
Noble 6 pulls the blade out of his shoulder, all pain seeming to dissapear. "One last impossible mission..." Emile says.

6 takes the blade in hand, looks at every member of Noble Team, their heads nodding in unison.
Noble six charges out from cover towards the enemy, and the screen fades to white...
