If you are into subarus, id look into a 2000 Subaru impreza wrx r2.5 stock turbo. Same one on my background. Im looking into one, myself, and its a really good car overall.

I got a Mitsubishi Eclipse (2008) for 9,000. Great car. I think Subaru's are a little cliche.

If a 17 year old gets a 2.5 turbo car, the insurance is going to be so much.

wait so in 'Murica you can drive a Subaru at 17? wow, In the UK you would be lucky to drive a 1L Clio at 17.

I own a Zenki Nissan S14. If I were you I wouldn't get one. Leave it until you're a little bid older. There's always a chance you you crash or get crashed into it's not going to be good & the world loses another great car.

You could try looking at a 240SX if you really want to go with these cars. But remember if you look for a Silvia or any of these RWD 1990 Nissan's, you're bound to run into some problems caused by the previous owner.
