Probably a stupid question.... Should I install the drivers when the GPU is out?

put it in, use on board graphics until the drivers are installed and then hook it up to the GPU.

But mine worked fine without new drivers, just updated them is all I had to do.

The reason for that is when you plug in a GPU it over-rides the on-board graphics. Since it's detecting that you've pugged a GPU in then you must be doing something wrong since it's detecting that a GPU is plugged in.

There should be no need to install drivers before you install a new GPU. In fact; you don't need to.

Make sure you have the 6 pin power connector in the GPU.

I have the 6 pin plugged into the GPU. The GPU must be powered because the fan spins. Should I disable the integrated graphics card in the device manager then install the gpu? No matter what if I have the GPU plugged in on the motherboard and its powered up I get a back screen
