Lynda.com does a good job

"JavaScript and Jquery: The Missing Manual" is a really great book.

"Professional JavaScript" is also a good book.

TeamTreehouse.com is alright for basic understanding of JavaScript but doesn't go into great detail, so I'd use Lynda for that. Mostly JQuery though.

Those are my top picks. After reading the Missing Manual book your should be familiar with JavaScript, and JQuery.

But, before you dive into JavaScript you should have a clear understanding of CSS. They work almost hand and hand, especially when you start using JQuery.

Codecademy is a pretty great place to learn JavaScript in my opinion. I use it to learn JavaScript.
