I'm thinking about getting my son a new gun. I know that the one he uses to play now needs co2 but what does this need? Is it electric. If so, do I need to purchase a battery as well?

wow your son is getting that as his gun? wow, he is lucky. There is an e-trigger (electric trigger) on it, so it should need a battery, and unless he is not getting an e-hopper (where the paintballs are held and are fed into the gun, but faster) you shouldn't need another battery. so yes he will need a co2 tank, and he probably should need a battery for the trigger.

I would recommend to go see your local paintball shop, unless you bought it online, then see some youtube videos about the gun. After all, paintball for me is just a hobby!

Hope this "sort of" helps.
