I Think I Got Scammed, What Should I Do?Posted:

Ok, i know this is alot, but please, and i mean please read it all and tell me what i should do.
Ok, to make this long story some what short, i was browsing craigslist last monday looking for a jailbroken PS3, came across a guy that seemed pretty legit, knew what he was talking about and he said he can jailbreak PS3's for cheap. So then i text him and see if hes able to jailbreak mine, of course he said yes, he informed me i would have to come to him and i was cool with that, after i told him where i live i found out he "supposedly" lives right down the street, and he said it would be fine for him to come pick it up. So he comes with paper work and everything, (this was friday by the way) and i pay him the $60 to jailbreak it, he takes my ps3 and says he'll have it back in 2-3 hours, of course my dumbass didnt get any type of information from him. That goes by and he has this excuse saying my gpu was about to burn out and all that so he fixes it, and says itll be free of charge, then he says the jailbreaks gonna take overnight. I said thats fine and asked if he could have it to me tomorrow in the morning. He said yes thats fine, so i call him around 9am and no answer, he texts me at 11 saying hes awake now and says that i also owe him $30 extra dollars for the repairs,i agreed thinking i could just talk him out of me paying 30, i ask him if he is able to bring it before 2pm because i had to go to work and wouldnt be here to pick it up for him he said yea definitely, this was around 11:30ish, then i try calling him and he doesnt answer none of my calls, but then when i call him from my house number he answers, (Weird). He sticks to the story saying how he'll be here at 2 no excuses.Of course that goes by and i call him he says hes on his way (Mind you i only live like a 15 minute walk from his house) then about 30 minutes goes by and he says hes stuck in traffic on a highway that i go to work on, i say what ever, and i say ill just get it tomorrow. I drive to work and theres NO TRAFFIC WHAT SO EVER. I text him and told him this, he has response, i start saying how i think hes scamming and everything and still no response, wont answer my calls or anything. Then he finally texts me while im at work and says shit like his family was shot at the mall and a bunch of bullshit, and come to find out that there really was a shooting and 3 people where dead, you may have heard about it the columbia mall in maryland, and says that when hes done with his family members he'll drop it off.
-The only info i have is his phone number, work place, and description of him and his truck.

So what should i do? Wait and see? or call the cops? PLEASE HELP

First of all, his family could've actually been at the shooting, but I highly doubt it.
As for what you can do, I don't know if there is much you can do for craigslist. You could give your police department a call and see if they can do anything for you.
That would be my best advice. (Don't call the emergency number though, just google for their phone number.)

I would give it a day or two(at the most), see what he says, if he texts or calls you. If you don't get a reply or your console back, go to the police, give them his number and license plate number(if you know it)!

Idk man, my bu****it meter is off the charts right now. Give him a day, cause the mall shooting could just be a sob story to by him some time. If not maybe go to the police, but like the previous posters said, don't use the emergency line

I would maybe wait a day and then you could contact the police and maybe tell him that you are if he doesn't get back to you.

Well, if I'm ever dealing with anything on craigslist service wise, I always drop off my item for that reason, just so I know where they live. Nothing has happened to me yet but if it would have I would have went back to that address and I wouldn't be too happy. You should really listen to Axe's advice though, that's probably the smartest thing you can do as of now. That really sucks though dude.
