All these soccer players have been saying that I won't start JV (Junior Varsity) because it's my first year playing soccer.

Do you think it's possible to start for your first year playing a high school soort?

Have any of you guys done it?

I'm a junior by the way.

It depends on how much you put into it, if you play your heart out, try your best, and show good results, then yeah probably.

Don't know why you want to start so bad, though. Everyone has to start somewhere, and you need the proper training before you can actually play and contribute something to your team. Don't know if that's what's you mean by starting, but that's my take on it.

Also, you could just try to play the least popular sport if the thing you want to do is get a lot of play time. Many people won't be in the team so you'll have greater chance.

Again, if that's what you mean by 'starting'.

It's all about what you put into it, if you give your hardest and you're good you might be able to. I did with Baseball .

If you've never played soccer before, and you're in a high school that takes competitive sports so seriously, then, being completely honest, you probably won't start.

However, you could be a natural athlete. What you need is to be good and quick with your feet, semi-fast (at least lol), and must be in good condition overall, so you need to be prepared to work on your cardio quite a bit.

I've been playing soccer since I was in the 4th grade, and when I was a Freshman (I'm a senior now), I started JV and was a switch player between both JV and Varsity because of how dedicated I was/am.

There's no need to get butthurt or argue with other people if you don't start, and it's alright if you're not good, because remember: it's your first year.

Just have fun, play your best, and you'll do fine. But hey, maybe you'll learn soccer isn't your thing. Just don't overestimate or underestimate yourself.

I'm willing to do anything to start, I'm going to start running about 5 miles a day when it warms up. Do push up, pull ups, and most of all practice at juggling to get my coordination up and then I'll practice dribbling. I would consider myself above average for speed, but I can definitely work on it. Thanks for your input. I still gotta figure out what position I'm going to try out for. Maybe striker but I don't know just yet!

I believe that anything is possible if you put the time and effort into getting better and improving your skills. I would say give it a shot, because you would rather try, then to wonder what would've happened if you did try.

I know if going to try out for sure, but usually people who sit on the bench are people who are toe-pokers and are really slow. I don't wanna become part of that group.
