February 1st - STATUS; LIVE
All Platforms
To thank the players for their feedback and support, Dice has decided to dedicate the whole of February to thanking their players.
This includes but is not limited to;
Dice has also promised a set of improvements that will address "netcode" issues, as well as the introduction of 'Platoons' that will allow players to "create your own social space and accumulate stats together."
Below is everything (that we know so far) that we can look forward to starting February 1st.
A New Player Appreciation Dogtag -
A new dogtag has been added and all you need to do to unlock it is open the 'Player Appreciation' battlepack, which can be found from the main menu under 'My Soldier'. Some people have had issues finding the actual dogtag once unlocked, all you need to do is go into 'My Soldier' then 'Dogtags' choose the 'Right side Dogtags', scroll to the bottom and there it is. (KEEP THE DOGTAG CURSOR ON THE FIRST DOGTAG AS YOU SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OR YOU WILL SCROLL PAST IT AND MISS IT)
A Battlepack a day -
Every day that you log into the game in February, youll receive a Bronze or Silver Battlepack. Battlepacks contain bonuses like XP Boosts and soldier camos. Normally, it would take approximately 30 hours gameplay to earn that many packs. Every day that you log a multiplayer game during the month of February, you will receive a new Battlepack. During weekdays, these will be Bronze, and during Saturdays and Sundays we will give away Silver Battlepacks. Remember to activate your earned XP boosts in the in-game menu to accelerate your progress.
Shortcut Bundles -
Dice will release two shortcut bundles for Battlefield 4 that will be made available for download at no cost during the Player Appreciation Month. These voluntary shortcut bundles will unlock all grenades and handguns for Battlefield 4 (the base game) so you can make up for lost time. Or if youre new to the game, they will help you catch up with players who have been on the Battlefield since launch. Available - TBA
For all Battlefield 4 Premium users, there will be two additional weapon shortcuts, unlocking DMRs and shotguns. Available - TBA
It is also unclear if these will require money after February so my best advice is to download them anyway.
Double XP Weekend -
During the Player Appreciation Month, there will be a double XP weekend for all players. If youre a Battlefield 4 Premium member, youll also get an additional double XP weekend during the Player Appreciation Month as an added bonus. Date - TBA
Community Missions -
Everyone will be able to participate in global DICE Community Missions where you will work together to unlock Gold Battlepacks. During the first of these Community-wide challenges, we will have to grab a set number of dog tags during a specified time. More details on this first Community Mission in Battlefield 4 to follow soon.

Head online to take part, remember to check the community challenge!
In addition to everything here, Dice will be setting up dev interviews where players will be able to ask them anything they wish to know from game balancing to level design. These will be set in stone as the Player Appreciation Month kicks off.
I hope you are all as excited about this as I am and that you find this topic useful. I will keep it up to date as and when new information becomes available.

I agree but tbh the game has been out long enough that most players already have these weapons. It's aimed at new players really...which is odd seeing as I don't feel appreciated yet. I hope the community challenges lead to something good.

Oasis wroteCorrect the word player appreciation should be aimed for the 'players' and not the guys who are level 3 and have just bought the game Double XP etc.. possibly but unlocking guns...RS5 wrote This is awesome i really am pleased that EA are showing a care in the players i just feel for once in gaming history they have gone slightly over the top on the whole Unlocking EVERY DMR/SHOTGUN and pistols it took me a week+ to unlock all the pistols and for some guy to skip past for free hmm...

Lol, definitely. Although I'm looking forward to February, if BF4 is going to be full of noobs then my k/d will / should get even better.
