I'm not planning on doing any soldering, and hope it isn't required (with this new pcb tech stuff out) but I'm trying to put a retail drive in my rgh, but first I need to get the dvd key from it. But how do I do that? I'm a noob, yes I know. But we all start somewhere. I'm sure someone is gonna say (you should google) but what is the point of that when I can ask people here to see what they say, right? Thanks in advance.

If your original dvd drive is missing or was swapped for a different consoles drive, the only way to obtain it is by a temporary RGH install.
If your drive is the original you can simply use your pc and jungleflasher and preferably a 360usbpro to dump the firmware/KEY. All drives are different please research your drive everything first.
It would also help if you told us why you are looking to obtain your key.

if you dont want to buy the usb extraction tool then you can use a homemade probe (CAN BE RISKY BUT ITS FREE) and do the same as what 5K advised, just be careful as if you do use a homemade probe you run a big chance of bricking your drive also whatever you do make sure you use the standard AV cable that comes with the console one of the biggest mistakes is getting a power down half way through a flash because there is no av cable in the console... its a shame you cant just put the drive into your RGH and flash your nand with xell.. you`d think it would work... anyways good luck dude hope all goes well
