To my understanding all i have to do is update my iPhone for it to be unjailbroken correct? is that safe for my apps(except for the tweaks and add ons downloaded by cydia of course)?

No, that is how you get it bricked...
Just completely restore it then upgrade. Then rejailbreak it.

Yes, it is perfectly fine. Or, if you do not want to jailbreak then you can just go to your packages and delete the jailbreak. You will also have to connect to itunes after.

if i don't want to rejailbreak it? all want to do is restore it, how would i do that?
