Shaun White recently stated he will not be competing in the slopestyle competition this upcoming olympics, stating that the course is too dangerous and he doesnt want himself or other competitors getting injured on the course.
Whats your opinion of this?

At least he's being honest and safe. Kind of a bummer, but you gotta respect it.

This really blows, I love Shaun White. But like TRSN said at least he is being honest and safe. I wasn't aware the course was that dangerous tho.

He is not competing in slope style due to a wrist injury and he doesn't want to risk hurting it more before his bigger half pipe event which if he wins gold he will be the only person to win gold 3 Olympics in a row.

He also stated the course was unsafe, and that through many modifications the course is still risky and he wants to avoid injury, along with other olympians.

Personally I totally agree with him. I snowboard at a national level and competing in slope style and I've seen some risky biscuit courses. Torstein Horgmo already broke his collar bone on the first rail on the course. And another female athlete went off the last jump and hit her head. All the athletes complained so they had to trim down the jumps by 6 FEET! and the athletes still want them to trim it more.

yeah, they just said all of this on the today show about 45 minutes ago, He said he wasn't comfortable doing it with an injury. I would hate to see there course, The courses where I live in Ohio are treacherous and there is always someone getting hurt on them.
