A way to get the phone into recovery mode is by holding down the home button as you plug your phone in, with it connected to itunes. Then you would proceed to restore, and you should be fine. If not, I'm not sure what else to do. Good luck!

Then iTunes will recognize it saying you will need to restore it. That is the only way!

My lock button is broken and my iphones battery is dead. Do I have hope?

Unless you figure out a way to fix your lock button, no. I had the same issue and I had to buy a brand new phone.

Are you serious? This is utterly awful.

If you have no other options, the next thing to do is to restore and re-jailbreak.

He can't do that. That's what I'm trying to explain lol.

This.

This is what you need to do.

While its off, hold the home button, plug it in to the computer, keep hold home button until it shows the itunes symbol and a plug.

Then itunes will tell you "Detected device in recovery mode, you must restore it before..."
Restore it and you should be good to go.

A way to get out situations like this is to go into DFU mode.

I'll try this after the battery dies again.

Sadly this didn't work. It got throug about 20 minutes, then said "applying update", and the time kept rising. It was still at the apple icon even after I unplugged it.

After I restore it, it still stays at the apple icon?
