Newschool
1. Lil Wayne
2. Rick Ross
3. Drake
4. Eminem [Both Sections]
5. Juicy J

Oldschool
1. Tupac
2. Biggie
3. Nas
4. Eazy E
5. Wu-Tang Clan

I'm not old at all so it isn't the reason i have hate towards newer rappers, but lyrically they just talk Lies their always rapping about "Money" "Gangbangin" and all that. but noone realises 80% of what they say is a lie and half the lyrics either dont make sense or are just useless. where as people like tupac and biggie speak the truth and back in their prime were actually gangsters and didnt lie about half the things they say. they are the real people. I'm not saying new is all awful, as some of their beats have a great flow, it would just be much better if they had lyrics to flow with it.

So please give your opinion on what type you prefer and why? thanks

Well, there's no doubt that oldschool is definitely better, but then most of it comes down to what you grew up listening to.

I grew up listening to old school rap with my brother, so I think old school rap is a lot better.

Old school was a way of expression in the black community. It was a culture that showed resilience and political/social opinions. Many MC's wanted to express their life and the struggles and environment the grew up in. Hip-Hop was also not a dominant genre.

New school was an envolvement of Hip-Hop. The genre was getting more popular. Many other rappers were coming on the scene. The birth of great rappers and also bad rappers. The topics changed, as Hip-Hop was getting more popularized, many rappers decided to change te modern style. Thus the topics of "sex, money, and women" was popularized.

My personal preference is listening to Old School. It contained more emotion, pride, and respect.

I prefer new school rap and honestly as long as the song sounds good I couldn't care what they're talking about. I don't listen to music to hear them talk about how bad their life is. I used to listen to old school rap when I was little but after time it just got old and I just moved on to newer music.(not that it's not good)

I Can't stress how bad Lil Wayne is
