Scientists in Texas may be closer to finding a way to fix the organ donor shortage.
Researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston say they have successfully engineered human lungs in a lab for the first time

FBl wrote Oh my, technology and research is crazy now a days,
Most things we dont even hear about
I know. You'd be surprised at how many major science breakthroughs don't make it to the media
-Depzman wrote I'd hate to be the one testing them on my body!
Would they even work 99.9% properly?
I'm sure there are still some kinks to be ironed out but i know they have gone successful ears and noses

It's amazing how quickly technology advances day by day without many of us even knowing.

How do you "Grow" a pair of lungs. That just sounds crazy.
Its also crazy that people say we will be able to print and use certain body parts and organs in the future.

The procedure involves taking a damaged lung that cant be used for a transplant and removing the cells and materials until theres only the skeleton or scaffold of the organ. Then, the doctors can add salvageable cells and tissues from another lung to the first. The new lungs are placed in a fish tank-like box with a liquid that allows the nutrients to grow

Why do we never hear about this in the media. There all focused on the negative, I would rather hear about possible medical breakthroughs like this than people going missing/dying.
