It would do just fine or normal settings. I would recommend going for a six core processor as it will save you from upgrading in the future. And if you want to go a little more upgrade your video card even more. Newegg has some great deals right now.

More cores =/= more powerful. He's better off getting an 8xxx series CPU to help future proof his rig, and even then it's not that future proof.

Low fps

DayZ is better with a better CPU, I know people with an i5 who will lag badly

i5 3570k i get 70+ FPS becuase i have a good graphics card :russianroulette:

normally the cpu does not matter but with games like dayz which are optimized you get low fps drops ect.

my i5 handles any games fine and upgrading to a i7 would be pointless literally a 1 fps increase

Serioulsy though lol...
CPU upgrading wont increase your fps as much as they say it will, it will upgrade 5 min max 10, if you want more frames, get a better GPU

Games can be CPU intensive you know? Just like programs can be CPU intensive.
Games like DayZ and Minecraft require loads of CPU power due to them being poorly optimised (minecraft being the worst one since it uses JAVA as a means of running the code, and JAVA ain't good for running games like minecraft.)

DayZ is poorly optimised for use, and a bad CPU would bring performance down. A better CPU than the OP posted would be great, it would make the game run better.
