I made the jump and i am glad I did.
It's more than just something to play games on. You can do everything else on it.

Get whatever most of your friends play on first.
A high spec PC is really nice but if you have no one you know to play with it can suck in multiplayer games.

I would have to say buy the console that your friends play.

I bought the XBone because I had friends that have it.

With PC:
Better graphics.
Smoother games due to unlimited FPS.
Cheaper games.
Can do everything a normal PC can do, but faster.
Better headset compatibility.
Keyboard or controller inputs.
Can game at almost any resolution.
Free online.
Usually more game options.
Could list a whole page full!

With the Xbox one
Smaller.
Can be cheaper.
A few exclusive games.

Now I'm lost, can't think of any!

For general entertainment I would say Xbox One as it has easy excess to many apps like Netflix, Youtube, Internet explorer, sky and much more.

But then if its only for gaming I would go for a PC as you will get a much wider range of games and lots more sales all the games will be a lot cheaper but the only problem with PC's is that they cost a lot to make/buy.

If you do go with a PC I would make one, It may be harder or it will be harder than just buying one but you can customize it run at the speed that you want and in the end it will be a lot cheaper than buying one. I payed for my first PC but then 6 months later I build a new one a binned the old one as it was not right for me. I would recommend you building your own if you were to get a PC.

Also take into consideration what all your friends have because if none had a PC you would be alone.

PC, by far. no lagg, cheaper games with steam sales, more futureproof and can be upgraded in the process of hardware getting outdated.

A 500$ PC will wreck a 500$ Xbox one/ps4
