my phone went from 100% down to about 30% in about 3 - 4 hours total. it was on power save mode aswell plus i wasnt using it that much only to check the time and twitter.

Is this right, is my phone faulty

No, that's definitely not right.
First try a factory reset. Back up important data then go to settings>Back up and Reset and select factory data reset and see if it acts any differently. If that doesn't work try flashing a stock rom with odin.

If it is still giving you trouble you might look into purchasing a new battery.

If it's neither of those you might try contacting samsung customer support and see what they say, you never know.

My mom's galaxy S3 only has like 3 hours of total battery life and she only uses it for texting, facebook, mail...

That's why I got an iPhone, really because I dislike android in many way.

You may have downloaded an app that is draining your battery life.

On my old phone, I downloaded USA Today and whenever there was breaking news, it would make my battery drain insanely quick.

Thanks for all the responses, it turned out it was a faulty battery.
