Note 3 for sure.
You may wait until next week though because Samsung is supposed to announce the Galaxy S5 on the 24th.

Nexus or nothing. I've got the five and it's great. Instant updates as soon as they are released, no bloatware from OEMs. No carrier bloat, no bullshit. Super lightweight, Gorilla Glass 3, great screen, great camera, great dev support. Overall fantastic phone. It's also the best value too. You get flagship specs (Snapdragon S800 Q-core @2.3GHz, 2GB RAM, super fast NAND, and more). You will not find a better phone or anything close to the price.
I also see that a lot of people are suggesting Samsung and HTC. To be honest, Samsung phones aren't that great. They have good specs, and tons of features that you'll honestly never use. They're cool at first, but very rarely do they work. Samsung phones also are made of a cheap feeling plastic that I'm not a big fan of. And finally, ew, I hate to mention it. But, TouchWiz. Gross, **** awful. If you don't know, no phones run "pure" Android, except for Nexus devices, and Motorola X/G (Not quite, but very close). All OEMs place a "Skin" on Android. Samsung has TouchWiz, HTC has Sense, LG has whatever they call it and so on. Samsung is by far the worst though. TouchWiz is heavy, bloated, and slow. And because of this it degrades the overall experience of the phone. I'll give you an example, the newest phone from Samsung, the Note 3 has 3GB of RAM; On the stock home screen, settings, etc. the phone has ~1.4GB of usable RAM. This means that TouchWiz is using ~1.6GB of RAM just running, and that's before you start any apps, services, etc.
HTC on the other hand, uses Sense, which is still a bloated piece of shit, but not nearly as bad as TouchWiz. It also looks a bit better in my opinion. But hey, that's your call.
In the end, if you want something that will be just as fast a year from now as it was when you bought it, something with loads of dev. support, something that lives up to it's name, and something that is all around the pinnacle of all that is Android you need to look to the Nexus 5. The whole point of the Nexus line is to set a standard for what all Android devices SHOULD be. This means no bloat, no junk, no compromises.
If you have any questions about the Nexus 5 please ask, I own one and am more than happy to help you.

I say HTC one that's what I'm using and this phone is pretty awesome! And I don't know if it changed but it was the top leading android I think.
