Ok, so I work extremely hard for sanitation(Garbage truck) in NY and barely make anything because I am only part time. Yet I am literally destroying my body. Then, I flip on the TV and see baseball players getting paid millions of dollars to throw a ball,or see Kim Kardashion make millions of dollars for...um...nothing. Give the athletes and celebs my $500 every 2 weeks and i'll take the million dollars every 10 minutes. THANKS.

It's funny, I was just talking about this subject with my room mate last night.

He's in furniture and business systems installation, which albeit isn't a very 'required,' business, but is still hard physical labor.

Another friend of ours works for a company called FSI, as a contractor. His jobs range from common construction get ups, all the way to scaffolding dangerous building structures in need of repair.

I work at a Honda dealership, as an express technician. All of, for the most part, are working hard to contribute something and 99% of our jobs are directly beneficial or influential to civilians.

We get paid dirt.

Fun stuff.

Yeah the harder the job the less you get paid seems to be the deal.

Depends on the business. You say that they don't work as hard as you, but that's not true. I don't know if you were an athlete when you were growing up, but when you were hanging out with friends, they were probably busting their butts practicing the sport they play. Getting to the big leagues is EXTREMELY hard, and even more hard it is to stay there. I understand they're highly overpaid, but doesn't mean they don't work as hard as you.

You're just in the wrong business.

I very much agree with you here. Just to elaborate on this even more think about how much training they do how fit they have to be its pretty demanding. this doesn't mean they should get paid ridiculous amounts but its by far not easy.

Being a professional athlete is a lot harder than you think. Everybody can say "Oh its soo easy, I can do that no problem" until you actually try it at the level they compete at.

Athletes in most cases dedicate their whole lives to the sport, and spend an enormous amount of time at the sport, either training, practicing, all of that. They definitely deserve the money in most cases.

If you aren't happy with your own job, you can find a new one, or go back to college and get training for a job with higher prestige.

Ive spent my entire life trying to get to the pros to make that money lol. Im only 18, about to play at Michigan State next year for baseball.

Anyways, athletes put in well over 40 hours a week of practice, study, workouts, and game time. Thats like working a 9 to 5 for 5 days a week, pretty similar amount of time for the average worker. They also put their careers on the line each and every time they go to work. Not to mention they are entertainment for the entire world so, I believe they are paid accurately and deservingly.

I agree, I don't think athletes should be payed so much.
Wayne Rooney is on 250,000GBP a week, for kicking a ball.

Way too much.

Both athletes and celebrities are not even close to being over payed.

That athlete that might be getting paid $200 million for a 5 year contract is only getting paid a fraction of the money he is bringing in.

Movie stars that get paid $20 million per movie are making that studio that funded the money hundreds of millions. Maybe even billions.

TLDR; Just because you do hard manual labor, doesn't mean you deserve more than athletes or celebrities.
You don't know them or the amount of work they put into what they do.

He is getting paid 250,000 a week but bringing in probably more than 5-10 million a week.
He deserves the money he is making. Probably deserves even more.

Yes I do actually. Because I put more work in than they do. I go to the gym to maintain a healthy lifestyle too. Playing a game once a week for a couple of hours does not equal working every day at the crack of dawn at a job that wont get cancelled for bad weather. And for everyone saying it is hard to get into major league sports,DUH. Where in my argument do I say my job was harder to get. I didn't. I said my job was harder to perform.
