Don't go spending 3 grand on a car because the insurance will hit you hard, look for something with a good reputation, sort of cheap (300-500) and is a 1.2 or else you'll be spending way too much on a first car since insurance prices are crazy.

Id go for the Corsa, can get them really cheap.

Its a smart thing to buy a small car, that don't use a lot of gasonline. And small cars are also not that expensive to get insured.

My first car was an WV Polo 1 litre, and it was real cheap to use.

I would recommend looking at insurance before buying the car, the ones you listed are known for high insurance on younger drivers because of there popularity.

Also as someone said try and get something with a 1.0 or 1.2 liter engine.

Ummmmmm, I'd get a Bugatti Veyron if I was you, haha joking bro if I was you I got get a small car like a KA for petrol.

the insurance will probably be a lot more than what you have to spend on a car.

It is really tough finding the first right car. Maybe you could use yahoo answers and do a little research. Use insurance comparison sites and they will give you an idea of the ideal care that is for your age.

I'd focus on your test first mate.

I didn't even consider getting a car until I'd passed.

I use to be in the same position as you.. Didn't know what car to buy and how the insurance will be, but I been through a few cars now and understand, so yeah here's my tip.

Buy a small car first..

I had a Peugeot 206, crappy first car lol but it helped me build my no claims bonus.

My insurance was through the roof at around 10000GBP a year. That's because I'm from London.. And postcode matters in insurance. I managed to get it down to 2500GPB, so that was fine.

If you're from the UK, you got to start small, then big cars later on.

Now I have a nice car, and my insurance is only 1000GPB which I'm happy about.

So yeah, start with a small litre engine and has a cheap insurance group.

Insurance is the main thing now, they cost more than the cars worth for students. Sad I know, but this is how it is if you're from the UK.
