I can't stand it when people claim they like "real" hip-hop, and only like Eminem, Hopsin, and Tupac. Apparently every other rapper to ever exist has only made songs about women, drugs, and money. If you actually listened to rap, you would know there are a ton of great rappers that are accused of being fake, whether they are old-school or current stars. I'm just trying to say, if you are going to judge artists, at least get an understanding of their music before you call it crappy. I can guarantee most of these people that talk bad about Lil Wayne and others have never listened to a single album they made.

I also don't understand all of the praise for Eminem being a conscious rapper, he has plenty of songs about doing drugs, committing crimes, and killing his loved ones. But I'll save that for another rant.

Eminem, Tupac, and Hopsin are overhyped.

They're good, but not that good.

I have to disagree with you there.

If it were't for Tupac and Biggie we wouldn't have the rap we have today. Tupac and Biggie changed what rap was and led the way for Eminem, Jay Z, and even Lil Wayne.

Edit:

I also don't understand all of the praise for Eminem being a conscious rapper, he has plenty of songs about doing drugs, committing crimes, and killing his loved ones. But I'll save that for another rant.

Then obviously his lyrics are going over your head.

I'm pretty sure this is one of the songs he is talking about.

And Cleaning out my Closet, and Criminal, and Drug Ballad, and So Much Better, and So Bad, and most of Relapse. The cover of Slim Shady LP was a dead body in his trunk. You must not know much about Em. Now reread the rant.

I see where you are coming from, and I have definitely seen a lot of people who are like this. I wouldn't really say its "Real Hip hop", but a different style of hip hop.

I don't really like how a lot of rappers only rap about money, girls, cars and drugs though.

I think claiming any type of music is more "real," than any other is pure stupidity.

There's some hip hop artists who have had everything handed to them on a silver platter, and there's some who've had to bust their teeth to get where they are. Either way, regardless, in the end they are musicians who produce and or create music to be sold and distributed, and possibly perform live shows.

It's all entertainment, every artists out there is an entertainer by the definition. Some may have a different mindset going in, and want to spread a different word, but nobody will ever please everyone. I'm a metal-head that listens to old-school metal, but I also enjoy old-school rap. I enjoy the sounds I hear, so I continue to listen to what I like.

Personally, I can't stand the music of today's generation, but there's no sense in bashing it, because the artists of today wouldn't be where they are if they weren't obviously pleasing people.

It seems like more people these days are just looking for a reason to bash and be haters, nobody just does their own thing anymore, I swear.

Those people you listed aren't even Hip Hop, lol. They're considered Rap. I agree with you though, everyone that calls today's rappers Hip Hop need to learn what Hip Hop really is.

Totally agree with you. Hip Hop is a culture not only a music genre.
