That's actually a good amount of money, you can at least raise a family with that amount of money.

thats more then enough to support yourself and a family aslong as you dont live somewhere like florida thats almost 4600$ a month

That's making more money than roughly 50% of the US. So yes, that's a good salary.

Not an end of career goal but I could see that as a starting point for 3-5 years and then moving up. Having a degree helps out a lot when going for more specialized jobs.

That's not much, with rising cost of living and ever increasing taxes especially. Also it depends on where you live, for example New York/California 55k is poor and saving virtually nothing. But in Texas (Houston for example) you could do decent on 55k.
With the current economic situation there are people making six figures easy that are in no way rich.
55k wont seem like a lot when you get out on your own.

Its livable, yes. But im aiming for something around $85k a year for my final career. However, money isnt about everything. If you are earning $55k a year and you enjoy the job, then that is better than earning $100k and hating it.
