There actually is some sort of risk. Jailbreaking can easily be done if you use the right program. But after you have jailbroken your device, make sure you know what you are doing. There is so many apps/tweaks you can install that will completely brick you apple device. Make sure you only download from trusted sources.

There is always risks to jailbreaking.
Apple doesnt like it when costumers jailbreak there iPhones, Because of this Apple will often refuse to accept the warranty or whatever on the iPhone. Jailbroken iPhones are prone to getting viruses and stuff from untrusted sources. Another risk is that the iPhone could become bricked if the jailbreaking process messes up.

alouth not a risk of jailbreaking it: a jailbroken phone can run several applications at a time. This drains the battery quickly.
