A hybrid drive is just a normal hard drive, with a little bit of solid state storage in there to speed things up a little. So it would show up as one drive and therefore be able to partition like normal. If you use a SSD as your main boot drive then you'd likely not see a performance increase and i would point you toward something like a Western Digital Black drive as they are supposed to be faster than normal 7200rpm drives.
