Strong reinforcement on what CDR said. The flare doesn't even touch the text. The reflections, or mirages, of the text look out of place. The bevel and emboss on it also looks very overdone and sickly.
It's your first ever desktop BG, right? A little tip is when creating large files - create them in double or even triple the resolution, and then when you save for web, shrink it to the correct resolution. Higher quality.
Edit: BD Bardust is a hard font to use correctly, so I recommend a more linear, sans serif font.
