My dvd drive in my xenon jtag seems to be going bad and I have a spare one laying around, so I'd like to replace it. I'd like some information on how to replace it though. I know everything about my current drive but I don't believe they are the same kind of drive. I'm wondering if I can modify my kv to the info of the new drive and just put it in the console. The problem is I don't know how/have the ability to find the information of the new drive. I'm sure everything but the dvd key can be found on the label. So, could I use my old dvd key, and use the feature of xellous that writes a new key to the dvd drive, but modify my kv for all the other info(model manufacture date etc..)?

IHOSTRGHLobbies wrote all you need to do is unplug the cords on your old on and take it out and put the new one in
As I understand it, each drive has a unique key, and the key listed in your kv has the match the key on your dvd drive. But since I don't know the key on the drive, can I flash a different key to it with xellous? Then the keys would match, and it should work.

In case anyone is confused as to what I'm referring to, there is a button on the web interface for xellous labeled "Set DVD Key"(or something similar) and as I understand it it writes the key listed in your nand to the dvd drive. I would hope that this would allow me to use my spare drive without knowing the key.

I had to do this recently. What I did was get both drives and pull the dummy.bin off the old drive and spoof the DVD key from that onto original firmware for the new drive, then flash that to the new drive. After putting the new drive in the console it should work properly, but you're gonna need drive flashing tools to do it.

Easiest way would be to read the dvd key from new drive then create a new nand in jrunner in xebuild options copy that dvd key then patch the Nand to the model of dvd drive you have

Baby_RGH wrote im not sure if that xell method works as ive never tried it although you need to have the same drive type to replace it, you cant have a hitachi drive in your console and replace it with a lite on.You can you have to patch the Nand
