To the people saying focus on the bullies, what are they going to do suspend most of the class?

The kid should just get a new bag.. it won't be the end of the world.

If most of the class is bullies, then yes. Give the kids that bully deserving punishments no matter how many there are. You never punish the innocent. The bullies can just learn to be nice.. it won't be the end of the world.

That is weird though, why would you let your child bring a my little pony bag to school, if he's in high chance of getting bullied? Weird.

Making him get a new bag isn't much of a punishment.

So they should just let the bullies get away with it?
Let them make that boy change who he is because they don't like it?
Only a naive person would think the bullying is going to stop just because he changed his bag.
Also, what kind of message is that for bullies everywhere?
'If you bully someone for something they can change it's OK.'

No they shouldn't. What do you suggest they do? Kids tease other kids all the time.
I think your making this a bigger deal then this is. Him getting a new bag isn't "changing" who he is.
I don't agree with the bullies but the kid should either stand up for himself or just get a normal bag.

Or the school should do what they're supposed to do and punish the bullies.

Normal bag? The kid is 9 and is in elementary school. What normal bags would they have? Kids at that age almost all have a cartoon themed bag. The problem lies at people thinking what gender and even age group some of those cartoons are only for.

Like I said earlier, you never punish the innocent. I don't care how small of a punishment it seems. Taking away the kid's right of self-expression is a pretty big problem. Friends tease with each other. If they are not friends, they should keep their mouth shut to what they were wanting to say.

I say give these schools a D.A.R.E.-type bullying program. If they don't learn from those, send them to a counselor or suspend them. I mean, the real problem here is not the kid's bag. It's the fact there are bullies in that school. They need to be educated.

Wilez wrote I kinda agree with the schools decision, No bullying shouldn't be happening, but why would you get bullied over a bag?; Change the bag, Stop the bully's?

Dealing with the specific set of bully's wont change much, just encourage more to join in.

If you had bright pink hair, you got bullied because of this, would you rather dye your hair or attempt to end your life over something that could be easily resolved.

I know there is going to be people saying he should be allowed to do what he likes, but that's life and this is our generation, what do you expect.

why should the boy stop doing or wearing what he likes because he gets bullied, its not his fault that the bullies cant deal with gay people. i mean he might not even be gay, he might just be a bit on the girly side

That made me lol congrats

Wow that is horrible I don't know why the school would do that. Instead of dealing with the bullies makes me sick actually.
