AVG and Avast are the best free options. I use MSE when I use Windows because it's not annoying and you don't need to register anything. It "supposedly" doesn't perform as well, but it should do everything you need.

I agree with r00t on this. However, I prefer Avast over AVG. I have bought the Avast Internet Security and so far it has been great.

On another note, I also recommend you in installing Malwarebytes if you have not yet done so.

I use Avast! Pro (got a free key) and it's awesome! I also use Advanced System Care 7 Pro. Cleans Malware, junk files, registry, and a bunch of other things. Getting the pro version it easy, just Google a key, doesn't matter if it is used, and just activate it. Not to mention it had d driver updater that can update your all your drivers. It is great and I recommend it along with Avast, the free version is also very good.

Malewarebytes right now is the #1 Anti-Virus, with updates daily.

@r00t

MSE is bad. Like, really bad. It's no longer supported and while it is convenient it will not block all form of bad stuff that "picture.exe" has to offer.

MSE is good however since it's directly supported...well, was supported by Microsoft.

I've used Malwarebytes and it blocks a lot of stuff on Google Chrome, get's really anoyying. I would use Avast, I think it works the best and I've had no problems with it.

It's not bad, it's "baseline." What I'm saying is that I'd rather use a program that's not clunky and annoying at the expense of better performance.

Also, Malwarebytes is not an antivirus.

I'm currently an Malwarebytes user.
I've tried most of them, I think this is the one to stay.
