I have actually had this happen to me but not with this amount of money, I had a little over $600 put into my account out of no where and asked the bank about it, they ended up taking the money back but I don't think its fair it's their fault not ours.

I would most likely do the same if I found a large amount of money.
I would share the money with my family aswell.

Definitely the banks fault, but I would have called. That is absolutely crazy! I would think someone was trying to launder their money through me!!!!!

It's the banks fault. The kid should be allowed to keep the items he bought.

Blame the bank. The kid should not have to return the money. He didn't do anything wrong.
