YellowStone National Park Volcano Erupting?

What do the animals know? Can their behavior portend natural events such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions?

That question remains debatable in the wake of a swift and seemingly urgent bison migration that was videotaped recently inside Yellowstone National Park.

What is known, however, is that people are quick to jump to conclusions, and that, thanks to social media and the simplicity with which people can steal the video footage of others, stories can spin wildly out of control.

They detect something vast and deadly, survivalist/blogger Tom Pupshu wrote in a post for a YouTube video report that he uploaded on March 23, several days after the first video footage of the buffalo stampede was posted. The Yellowstone Supervolcano is the only thing there that would fit the bill. Watch the animals and watch them close, they will always give you a heads up before an event. Very strange, is the caldera about to blow?

Stories have carried headlines such as this one, from the Epoch Times: Yellowstone Volcano Eruption in 2014? Are Animals Fleeing Park As An Alert?

Further fueling speculation that the running bison were signaling a major event was a 4.8-magnitude earthquake (later downgraded to a 4.7) that shook the park last Sunday. It was the strongest quake to hit the area in more than 30 years.

On Monday, the park, compelled to try to stifle rampant speculation, produced a Rumor Control video, featuring public affairs specialist Al Nash. (Video posted above.)

Nash explained that the earthquake produced no damage or injuries and was uncommon only in its strength. It might not even be linked to volcanic activity.

We see between 1,000 and 3,000 earthquakes here a year, Nash said. Its just part of the geologic situation that we find here in Yellowstone.

Nash explained that bison, elk, and other animals will migrate out of the park to lower elevations each winter. This is nothing out of the ordinary. When the snow melts off and things start to green up, those very same animals will walk right back into the park, Nash said.

Of prospects of a super-volcano eruption, Nash said there have been no verifiable signs that an eruption will occur anytime soon. But thats not to say there isnt a lot of activity beneath the surface.

Frankly, Nash said, We are just a few miles above some real hot magma. That magma serves as the heat that fuels the geysers and hot springs and fumaroles in the park. Its that engine that allows for the unique things that we see here in Yellowstone. [But] we have seen no signs that the Yellowstone volcano is about to erupt.

If only the bison could talk. Then we might truly get to the bottom of all this.

Personally this scares the crap out of me but then again its probably just another Joke. What are your thoughts?

I think this is very interesting.
A very good post also.

I believe that the bison have sensed something, however the are other potential explanations to why they could be running ..

The bison arent running from the volcano there actually running closer to yellow stone. But the super volcano is very pass due and could explode any day now if it does blow up then the entire west coast would be destroyed form volcanic ash and most of the usa would be under and ash cloud for several months, and we would have to wear masks all the time

It wouldnt just be the west coast. Yellow stone is capable of coving part of the world in ash, and reaching over to japan and other countries like that.

If it would erupt, it would spiral us into a deep, dark ice age and we wouldnt see the sun for a very very long time. That means no crops, freezing temperatures 24/7, animals would die out, no food, rivers/lakes would freeze up. Everyone would be effected by this. Let alone, the massive amount of lava that would shoot out, it would cover almost all of the united states, killing millions.

Yellow stone national parks volcano is not something to mess with or joke around, its scary, like really really scary.

Yes, as Cygnet has said, if this was to erupt, then the whole world would be affected. In some ways, further away places (Such as the UK where I am) would be worse as the ash would blow straight over to us possibly.

But I'm 50/50 with this. I hope it won't erupt, but it is strange that the volcano is way overdue, and the bison rapidly migrate.

What is strange, is as I was writing this, an advert for Yellow Stone came on the TV!

Scary? Yes, well actually sorta. You guys are making this much worse than it actually would be, there won't be huge flows of lava over the continent or no sun for years to come. In reality it would be about an inch of dust, yes it would ruin some crops but not all, also speaking it wouldn't get very far, 500 miles at max.

Although the part we all seem to miss is the fact that the volcano is running exactly the same as it has in the years past, so don't expect any more huge headlines soon.

If you're still curious about the scattering buffalo, they're heading to lower regions to escape the snow and make feeding themselves much easier.

Well actually, the ash would be a lot worse than that. Okay, I'm not sure about the no sun for years, but still.
Look at the Iceland volcano in 2010. That ash cloud closed most of our Airports in the UK, right down to London, past it, even into France and Spain! It would all depend on the weather and winds.
