I have an old hard drive from my old computer with win7 installed. Could I use it on a new computer so I don't have to buy another copy of win7?

Probably but if it has any sort of malware or viruses then your new computers pretty much dead straight away

No, your Windows is linked to your motherboard, you will need to re install no matter what when changing HDD'/Motherboards.

would i need the product key? and my old computer died because the cpu fried and it was integrated to the mobo, but the were no viruses. all the hdd info was unafected.

You will need the key and a installation disk/USB.

Looks risky to do though.
It's relatively simple. Do what it tells you to do and nothing goes wrong. I've done it twice already for hardware upgrades.

well mine is an oem copy that did not come with a disk and i lost all the papers and the sticker was worn off the side of the case. ill ttry that methoud but i still dont have all my parts yet.
