Do I have to be on stealth to host system link rank lobbies on call of duty? For example: can I make myself 20th unlock all on mw3 by joining my Jtags game from my retail?

No, you do not need stealth for doing a system link unlock all lobbies.

You have to be online for Black Ops 1 and Above. Including Mw3, Balck Ops 2, and Ghosts. Only Mw2 and Cod 4 are system linkable.

Online as in able to connect to each games respective servers - either through live or an emulated service.
