How to Create a Mirror Effect in Photoshop


Step 1. Have Photoshop open, click file < new, and create a canvas with plenty of room. I chose 600x400.

Step 2. (Optional) Get your Paint Bucket tool, and dye your canvas a dark color for a better, clearer mirror effect.

Step 3. Get your Type tool, and lay down some text.

Step 4. Then, right click on the text layer, and select Duplicate Layer.

It should make another layer.

Step 5. Make sure you have the copy layer selected, and go to Edit < Transform < Flip Vertical.

It should look like this. This is what I call a "69" effect.

Step 6. Drag the flipped text directly under the un-flipped text.

Step 7. Double click the copy layer. This should bring up the Blending Options window.

Step 8. Adjust the opacity to about 30%.

Step 9. Make sure your foreground color is the same color as your backround, and head into the Gradient Overlay tab.

Step 10. Click the Gradient: box with the color, and select the second gradient effect, foreground to transparent.

Step 11. Press OK, and you are done! The final product should look like this.
