VERY Happy to see this forum back!!!

Anyway, I have a Toyota MR2 Roadster (Spyder for you murican folk) and recently she has become a poorly girl and started to burn oil So I thought I would make this thread to let you know my issues and what I am doing to get to the bottom of it all and ultimately get it sorted.

So one day I checked the oil and it wasn't even showing on the dip stick! After topping her up with oil and running her for only 100 miles she was down to 3/4`s! I have booked her in to be pressure tested at the weekend to find out where the problem lies.

I believe its going to be one of three things :

1 - Oval Bore Syndrome, where the oil seals harden over time and go into an oval shape and allow oil to seep and be burnt. This in turn means the engine runs with insufficient lubrication causing wear and heat stress and if not fixed... well KABOOM

2 - Pre cats have gone, where the ceramic honeycomb material in the precats fragments and gets sucked in to the engine, destroying the pistons, piston rings and cylinder bore. This is because of the VVTi system, which sucks in some exhaust gasses to re use for extra power.

3 - Both of the above and I need an entire engine re build and my wife is not gonna be happy....

Feel free to give your insite into the issue if you like as I may have missed something or not explored a certain avenue. I will keep you updated as I go on.

You should tare the engine down, put forged internals and add NOS !!! We can overnight the parts from Japan and I will have Harry put it on my tab we got to get you racing busta.

Are you rebuilding it yourself or getting a mechanic to do it?

Hopefully it could be broken oil coolers from Stones while Driving.

I have an empty 20lb Cold Fusion nitrous bottle that I haven't used ........yet.

I know with my gto the LS1/ LS2 engines like to burn oil. I installed an oil catch can and it makes a big difference when I open up the can every couple months to empty it. With 142,XXX miles on her she's getting tired and lazy. Time for a 408!

Will be going to a mechanic as I don't have the equipment to skim the head if needs be.

If the cost out weighs the value then my next post will be a scooby build
