So basically i have the internet company's router and provided my own modem to save money.
well all of our wireless devices tend to lose connection when more then 3 devices are connected to our internet, the modem we have is 8-9 years old. And i contect the internet provider by phone every month or so.
if i upgrade my modem will that fix my problem or is it the internet provider that is lacking in my service.?

Yes, your modem is not able to handle the amount of information that is going through it. Upgrade and it will fix the issue.

It seems to be your modem just can't support more devices and you're using too much bandwidth for your modem to handle or your internet provider isn't send out enough bandwidth for all your devices so it just shuts off.
I think that's the issue anyway. But seeing as your modem is that old, I'd buy a new one. They're quite cheap now so you might as well see if that works. If not, try a new ISP.

As you said, your modem is outdated, and old.
And 9 years old.
As Liability said, you will need a new modem.
I suggest you buy a new one with a better wireless card inside. This will prevent you from connectivity issues, and will allow you to get better signal strength.

You should buy a modem that has DOCSIS 3.0 and if it's a cable modem I recommend the Motorola Surboard.

Depending on your ISP they might do it for free like mine did, Ours was out of date and they come and fitted a new 1 piece SuperHUB for free
